The large Kangal is the largest dog breed in the world, bar none. There are many Kangals that are over one meter tall at the shoulder.
The Turkish Constitution defines Kangal as a national dog and national treasure. The "national hero" has been presented as a state gift to the main leaders of friendly countries 12 times. God's pet, Turkey is a religious country, 85% of its citizens believe in religion, believers hold a heavenly sacrifice every year, and Kangal is the only sacrifice to worship God. At the same time, the Kangal dog has helped Turkey resolve several diplomatic crises and prevented Turkey from being isolated by the international community. The Kangal dog is Turkey's diplomatic magic weapon, equivalent to China's giant panda. Turkey often lends Kangal dogs to its friends' national zoo for exhibitions to enhance mutual trust and friendship. It is forbidden to eat Kangal dogs in Turkey. Kangal dogs enjoy the same right to survival as Turkish citizens.
The only certification body for Turkish Kangal dogs is the Turkish WAD, the Shepherd Dog Association. The association has no branches outside of Turkey. Currently, all purebred Kangal dogs outside of Turkey need to be registered in Turkey. There is no other registration channel.
Kangal dogs are often called shepherd dogs. They drive away bears, leopards, jackals, etc. that attack sheep. They are very friendly and gentle to people and children, and loyal to their owners. As a super large dog, Kangal has high fighting and guarding abilities. Because of its fighting ability, it is widely used in dog fighting gambling in Turkey, although this is illegal in Turkey. In terms of guarding, Kangal is a very good dog breed. It is very friendly to children and the elderly unless there is a special order from the owner. It will attack silently against people who threaten its owner. The tacit understanding with the owner makes Kangal superior to other guard dogs in guarding.
Protect wild animals and eliminate game.
