The Rex cat appeared in West Berlin in 1946 and was registered in 1951. Rex cats are smart and clever, and have an outgoing personality. Because Rex cats have thin fur and lack a fluffy layer, they are sensitive to temperature changes and are not cold-resistant. Some people believe that feeding Rex cats with cow and sheep fat (suet) can enhance their cold resistance. Rex cats give birth to 3 to 6 pups per litter on average. However, the survival rate is low, so they are precious.
Rex cats love humans and also enjoy social activities. They use their paws like hands, Rex cats can pick up small objects, and some can turn doorknobs to open doors. Give a Rex cat a string and you can see how it plays. It jumps, dances and stands up on its hind legs. Their cleverness is easy to spot, and they know how to choose the most interesting or eccentric gestures to attract you. They will also fly over happily to hug their owner's knees gently or lie right under their owner's chin. Comparative studies have shown that the Rex cat is one of the most adaptable and versatile cats in all situations, an all-weather cat. Despite its elegant appearance, the Rex cat is surprisingly strong and does not require any special care. Active cats love exercise and it is not difficult to let it entertain itself. Many cats are no longer suitable for playing like kittens, but a Rex cat never loses interest in games and plays like a kitten even when it is an adult. Because it likes to participate in all things happening in the house, the Rex cat does not like to be locked up. If a Rex cat is imprisoned and not allowed to have close contact with people, it will lose interest in life. Its coat will become dull, its curls will disappear, and its body will become thin. Being a member of the family and being able to run around the house is the lifestyle that the Rex cat pursues.
