The Belgian Tervuren is a type of Belgian Shepherd Dog (parti-colored long-haired breed), which first appeared in Belgium.
The Belgian Tervuren gives the impression of a well-proportioned medium-sized dog with a gentle manner, a square body proportion, and a very proud head and neck. He is strong, flexible and muscular, always alert. The overall structure gives the impression of depth and reliability, but not clumsy. The qualities shown are intelligence, courage, alertness and love for his master. He is always alert and pays close attention to strangers, but he is not worried. In addition to herding sheep, he can protect his master and his property, but he is not very aggressive. Under command, he is alert, focused and takes action. He is enthusiastic and possessive of the things he cares about.
The male Belgian Tervuren shows masculinity, while the female is obviously more feminine, but the judging criteria are the same as for the male. The Belgian Tervuren is a natural dog, and there is no need to pose deliberately in the competition.
The Belgian Tervuren appeared in Belgium in the 13th century. Like all Belgian Shepherd Dogs, it has the same racial roots, and its closest bloodline is the Groander. If two Belgian Shepherd Dogs (Groander) mate with each other, sometimes they will accidentally give birth to the Tambien. It has a feature that the Belgian Shepherd Dog (Groander) does not have, that is, the color of the fur. The fur color of the Belgian Tambien is not pure black. In 1891, Professor Ruhl of the Belgian Veterinary Academy bred a new breed of Belgian Tambien.
