The English name of Manchester Terrier is Manchester Terrier, which belongs to the terrier family. There are two types of this dog: one is smaller and has been recognized by the International Dog Machinery; the other is larger and is considered a giant among terriers. There are many sizes, but they are generally divided into standard and toy types.
The Manchester Terrier inherited the bloodline of the extinct black and brown terrier. In the 18th century, a breeder named John Hume in Manchester improved the Manchester Terrier and used Whippet dogs to crossbreed with it to produce the Manchester breed. Later, the bloodline of the West Highland Terrier was mixed in to form the current breed. It was subsequently added to the West High and Low Terrier breed. In 1959, the Manchester Terrier and similar toy dogs were registered separately, with only the small Manchester Terrier being recognized. This sleek and active breed has achieved the popularity it enjoyed 100 years ago as the famous "English gentleman's dog". It was exported to North America and Germany, and mistakenly used its dark tan coat to develop the Doberman Terrier. Its decline began when it became unpopular as a rat bait (at one time, a Manchester Terrier named Billy was recorded catching 100 rats in a wooden box in 7 minutes). A ban on ear cropping further reduced its popularity, and breeders took some time to develop its V-shaped ears. Although the breed has a bad temper, it makes a lively and energetic companion dog. Fearless and agile, the Lakeland Terrier was originally bred and used by farmers in northern England to protect their sheep from predators.
Manchester Terriers rely on their vision to hunt. They are a breed of dog that is used to hunt rabbits and drive away mice. This dog has great courage, agility, and a particularly impatient temperament. Originally, it had a rough and impatient character, but after a long period of breeding, it has improved its unique lively, agile, and fast nature.
Manchester Terriers have an elegant temperament. Although they are not well-known, they still have very enthusiastic dog fans and are very attractive family dogs.
