Originated in 3000 BC, it is native to Iran. This dog has a long history. In the tombs of ancient Egypt more than 3000 years ago, images of hounds similar to this dog were found. Judging from the appearance, this dog and the ancient Afghan hound are close relatives of the same lineage.
The Saluki was an Egyptian noble dog and may have been the earliest known domesticated dog. According to some historical records, it appeared in ancient Egyptian tombs in 2100 BC, and statues of Salukis were made between 7000 and 6000 BC. In some ancient cultures, the animals depicted resembled Salukis, with greyhound-like bodies and long ears.
Due to their fast speed, they are used to catch sheep in Arab countries. They attack antelopes under the guidance of falcons. We also believe that they can catch foxes and rabbits. In the UK, their task is to find rabbits in the shortest possible time.
Saluki hounds became a very famous hound breed in the UK a few years later. It was not until 1927 that its category was certified by the American Kennel Club and its information was recorded in the United States.
Saluki hounds are not ranked high in IQ, but Saluki hounds are still very popular, mainly because of their cheerful, lively, clever personality, loyalty to their owners, and their noble temperament and lovely appearance. More and more friends like them. In the process of raising Saluki hounds, owners need to take them out for activities every day, because this large hound needs more time for activities every day, and the owner also needs to have a certain amount of free time every day to take care of them.
