The West Highland White Terrier is a pure white dog from the western highlands of Scotland. In the mid-19th century, people selected and bred an authentic white dog breed from the Highland White Terrier.
The West Highland White Terrier has a fox-like face, a long nose, is smart, tenacious and brave, and looks very lovable. It has many similarities with Scottish dogs. It has the same ancestor as the Scottish, Cairn, and short-legged long-bodied terriers, and then distributed throughout the UK. It was originally named after Portorock in Argyllshire, where it originated. Later it was named West Highland White Terrier. It can hunt foxes tirelessly and perseveringly in rocky areas. Today, this beautiful puppy has become a new generation of darlings in the ornamental market and is a famous dog in the United States and Europe.
Although the West Highland White Terrier originated in the western highlands of Scotland, it is very popular in the UK. In a British survey, the West Highland White Terrier ranked tenth in the UK's most popular dog voting list. However, the West Highland White Terrier is not well-known in Scotland, and not many people raise it. There are not many breeders and breeders of West Highland White Terriers in China, and it has only started to become slightly popular in the past two years. The top-blooded West Highland White Terrier introduced by the Famous Dog Club in 2012 has always been regarded as the most popular choice for domestic West Highland White Terrier enthusiasts.
I believe many friends have seen a movie called "The Legend of Bobby", in which the West Highland White Terrier is the protagonist. This movie is adapted from the story of the same name written by the writer Eleanor Atkinson based on a true story. The film tells the story of a West Highland White Terrier named Bobby after his owner died of illness. The prototype of the movie is also named Bobby, born in Edinburgh in the 19th century. After the death of his owner, he did not leave, but stayed in front of his owner's grave for 14 years until he died of old age. Bobby's touching story was passed on by word of mouth in the UK. People spontaneously built a cemetery and statue for this loyal dog. Later, a memorial hall was built for Bobby and a monument was erected at the door of the memorial hall. People often come to Bobby's tombstone to pay their respects, commemorate him, and send flowers to this touching dog to express their love and remembrance.
West Highland White Terriers are a confident, friendly and loyal breed. Some say they like to bark, but in the past, they wanted to tell their owners where pests were; now they only bark at strangers to remind their owners. They are loyal to their owners and get along well with children.
