The Chow Chow is a very fashionable pet and guard dog. It originated in China and was once called the Chow Chow in ancient times. It has a history of more than 2,000 years and is one of the oldest dog breeds in the world. It is said that it was the most favored by the emperor during the Tang Dynasty and was the most prosperous. In the past, there was a saying that a Chinese emperor had 100,000 hunters and 2,500 Chow Chows.
In the 18th century, Britain and China had exchanges, and the Chow Chow was also introduced to the West from China. The Chow Chow was then called the Chow Chow. According to its Cantonese pronunciation, the British and Americans called them Chow Chow. In 1880, after Queen Victoria fell in love with the Chow Chow, the breed attracted people's interest in the UK and developed to a certain number. The first special club was established in the UK in 1889. The AKC officially recognized the breed in 1903, and in 1906 the American Chow Chow Club was approved to be established as a member club of the AKC. Today, it has become a fairly established breed in the United States. After the 1940s, Europe and the United States bred and cultivated the American Chow Chow based on the traditional native Chow Chow. In China, the origin of the Chow Chow, the traditional native Chow Chow still exists in large numbers in Guangdong and Guangxi.
The Chow Chow combines beauty, nobility and nature. It has a unique blue tongue, a sad expression and an exaggerated gait, but it is not very obedient. Sometimes it can be very independent, and its eyes are deep-set and its vision range is limited.
The Chow Chow is very quiet, elegant, and never destructive. They are the easiest dog breed to learn to use the toilet. Gentle, very smart, loyal to the owner, it is a very quiet dog breed. It does not require a lot of training, can lie quietly at home all day, and it has no body odor, suitable for apartment breeding. But the personality of the Chow Chow is very unique. They are very much like cats, very self-centered, independent and stubborn. They will not compromise for corporal punishment, let alone do things they don't want to do. They are an extremely arrogant and characterful dog breed. They will be very unfriendly to strangers. Unless there are special reasons, the Chow Chow should not be bathed too frequently. It is best to bathe the Chow Chow no more than two to three times a year.
