The name of the short-legged long-bodied terrier comes from the name of the dog breeder in the novel by Walter Cordell. It is an excellent hunting dog that specializes in hunting small cave animals such as mice, cave bears, otters, rabbits, etc.
The Short-legged Terrier was bred from the many native terriers of the Border Terrier in the Cheviot Hills region between England and Scotland, and was first recognized as a distinct breed around 1700. It is known for its excellent hunting ability of otters and badgers. The recognized Short-legged Terrier appeared in works of art 850 years ago. In 1845, the King of France had a pair of Short-legged Terriers. The short-legged long-bodied terrier is no longer valuable for hunting, but its other excellent qualities make it an excellent guard dog. It is smart, likes to be close to children, and has excellent guarding ability. It has its own ideas and is sometimes unwilling to obey orders, giving people an "I will do it, but don't force me" look.
The short-legged long-bodied terrier has a big head, a long body, short legs, fluffy hair, a crown-shaped decorative hair on the top of the head, and the face seems to always maintain a melancholy and angry expression, which makes people laugh. Friendly and active, with a loud bark, it is an excellent family guard dog.
In today's cities with high-rise buildings, it is undoubtedly very suitable to raise short-legged long-bodied terriers, because although this cute dog is not very smart, it is loyal to its owner, can get along well with people, and is small in size and convenient to raise at home. They are mostly gentle and friendly, playful and cute to children, and are a particularly excellent companion dog breed.
