The largest dinosaur in the world is Titanosaurus. In fact, these prehistoric reptiles were the largest land animals that ever lived. Some dinosaurs could reach gigantic sizes. In fact, the largest are even larger than any land animal alive today!


The largest dinosaurs ever lived were sauropods. These herbivorous, long-necked, long-tailed reptiles include famous faces like Diplodocus and Brontosaurus.


These giant prehistoric animals first appeared in the late Triassic period but reached their greatest size during the Cretaceous period.

Titanosaurus: The World's Largest Dinosaur


The largest dinosaur was Titanosaurus. They were one of the last surviving groups of sauropods when the asteroid that wiped out the non-avian dinosaurs collided with Earth 66 million years ago.


Not all titanosaurs were huge - Mayasaurus was only about 5 meters long - but many were record-breaking giants. Here are some of the largest discovered so far.
