Puertasaurus has very few bones, as shown here, but it is one of the largest dinosaurs ever discovered.
Puertasaurus had only four vertebrae, but even these fragmentary remains indicate that this dinosaur was one of the largest titanosaurs. The dorsal vertebrae found are among the widest of any known sauropod, suggesting it had an especially wide ribcage.
Puertasaurus lived during the late Cretaceous period about 76-70 million years ago. Fossils of this animal were found in southwestern Patagonia, Argentina.
