Tyrannosaurus is a recognized ferocious carnivorous dinosaur. They sometimes even kill each other, and the most famous member of this type of dinosaur is Tyrannosaurus rex.
Scientists found clear tooth marks on the skull and jaw of a Tyrannosaurus rex found in Dinosaur Provincial Park in Alberta, Canada, providing the best evidence to date for the above statement.
The dinosaur discovered was called Daspletosaurus (pictured above is fighting with another of its kind). It died when it was not fully adult, but it still weighed about 500 kilograms and was nearly 6 meters long. A little smaller than Tyrannosaurus rex. Daspletosaurus lived about 75 million years ago, nearly 10 million years earlier than Tyrannosaurus rex.
According to an article published online this week in PeerJ, researchers inferred from the spacing and shape of the squeeze marks on its skull that it was bitten by another tyrannosaurus while it was still alive - most likely another tyrannosaurus. A Daspletosaurus - Maybe the fight between these two dinosaurs caused this result.
Although the wounds later healed, tooth marks on its jaws indicate that the carnivore became food for another tyrannosaurus after death.
