Gravel coast piled with broken jade

A coast with a large number of jade-like stones piled up and down the tidal flats is called a pebble coast. Pebbles vary in size, ranging from larger than goose eggs, similar to eggs, to smaller than quail eggs. The garden degrees of pebbles are also different, including muddy garden, oval garden, and long oval garden. Most of them are elliptical. They are colorful, including red, yellow, gray, black, white, black and white, red and yellow, and are so beautiful. Many tourists on the beach look for rocks, each taking what he likes and never leaving.

Pebble coasts are widely distributed in my country, mostly in sea areas backed by mountains. This kind of coastal distribution is found in Liaodong Peninsula, Shandong Peninsula, Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan. The coast of Laotieshan at the southwest end of the Liaodong Peninsula is intermittently dotted with pebble coasts dominated by quartzite. In the Shandong Peninsula, pebbly coasts appear near many prominent headlands. The width of the pebble beach varies from place to place. The width of the pebble beach near Chengshantou at the eastern end of the Shandong Peninsula is about 40 meters. The width of the pebble beach near Lanshantou in Jiaonan and Rizhao can reach several hundred meters. Some islands along the coast of Shandong, such as Tianheng Island and Lingshan Island, also have typical pebble coasts. The east coast of Taiwan Island is close to the Pacific Ocean, with deep water and steep slopes, forming many pebbly coast sections. The pebble beaches on the east coast of Taiwan are relatively wide, reaching 800-1,000 meters in width at San Diaojiao in the north and Eluanbi in the south. Here, you can also see huge rocks that have collapsed on the cliff and slightly rough boulders.

To the east of Qinhuangdao, there is a pebble embankment in the Shihekou area. They are located parallel to each other along the coast. The gravel that forms the cobble bank originates from the Stone River. The Shihe River is the largest river in the region. The riverbed has a steep slope and fast currents. It can carry a large amount of gravel from the valley into the sea during the flood season. The farther away from the river mouth, the smaller the particle size of the gravel, and the better the grinding garden. Local people use pebbles to build farmhouses and build country roads, which have become an important local construction material. The pebble coast has a long history of formation. It is formed in two ways. One is that the rocks on the seaside cliffs are broken under the impact of waves, seawater dissolution, thermal expansion and contraction, and natural weathering. These gravels vary greatly in size, with extremely irregular beginnings and sharp edges. They are washed by huge waves in the sea, and roll up and down with the rapids, colliding and rubbing against each other. The sharp edges and corners were gradually flattened, slowly became smaller and rounded, and finally became the smooth pebbles that people love. Many pebbles are stacked together to form a pebbly coast.

Dalian Golden Pebble Beach is shaped like a butterfly, so it is also called Butterfly Beach.

Another cause of pebbly coasts is the short rivers that originate in the mountains and flow into the sea. Because the riverbed of this kind of river has a large gradient, when a flash flood occurs, the rapid current carries a large number of stones into the sea. These stones that entered the sea had rolled with the current in the river bed, and had been rounded to a certain extent during the transportation process, but the edges and corners were still clearly discernible. Under the impact of waves, the edges and corners of these stones are further flattened and become more rounded, and they are piled up to form the pebbly coast of the estuary area. <br>
