The checkered butterfly fish has flat sides. The snout is pointed, with the front end protruding slightly forward. The body is covered with weak comb scales. The edges of the scales on the side of the body have dark lines and are connected to each other in a reticulate pattern. There is a black horizontal band on the head, a black vertical band along the dorsal fin ray, and a black horizontal band on the tail fin.


One of the beautiful ornamental fish that lives in coral jungles. The body length is about 50 mm, which is rare.


Distributed in the warm waters of the tropical Pacific. Our country is only found in the South China Sea.
