The golden-spotted swallowtail butterfly is a world-famous rare butterfly unique to my country. It lives in broad-leaf and coniferous evergreen forest belts above 1,000 meters. One generation occurs a year, and the overwintering adults are mostly active between the end of March and April, and a few can last until August. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Hunan, Fujian and other places.

In 1988, the red bark was listed as a K-level protection object in the list of threatened species formulated by IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources). The Teinopalpus aureus was listed as a first-level protected object in the draft "National Key Wildlife Protection List" published by my country in 1989. The reasons for the rarity of this species may be: 1. The distribution area is narrow, limited to some parts of the Oriental region; 2. Yang is strong and Yin is weak, and the ratio of females to males is very different (1: 50-200); 3. Because of its rarity, butterflies are Researchers, collectors and enthusiasts are all competing to hunt for them, and some even pay huge sums of money to buy them. Profit seekers are hunting wildly and indiscriminately, which is also one of the reasons for the scarcity.
