The large broad-billed elephant is a beautiful and rare weevil. Body length 24-30 mm, body width 4.5-6 mm. The head tube and chest are brown-red, and the elytra are brown-black. The male has a thick upper jaw with coarse teeth on the inner edge; the length of the beak is 2.9 times the width of the forehead; the antennae are born in the middle of the beak, and are only slightly narrowed at the antennal fossa and slightly broadened at the end; the front beak has a slight ridge, and the back is slightly wider. The beak has a middle groove; the beak expands to both sides above the antennal fossa, and the rear edge of the extended part is the widest; the antennae are thick, reaching the rear edge of the prothorax. The head is trapezoidal, with a triangular depression on the trailing edge. The forechest is smooth, longer than wide, and is widest after the middle. The lines of the elytra are large and rounded; the end and side angles protrude into wide sharp processes; there are orange-red spots of different sizes and shapes on the elytra. The leg segments are toothed; the anterior tibial segments are straight and toothless.
