Body length is about 7 mm, grayish brown. The head tube is shorter and has a longitudinal groove on its surface. The wing elytra are slightly oval, with slightly pointed ends. In Liaoning Province, it has one generation every two years and spends the winter in the soil as adults and larvae. Around mid-April, overwintering adults begin to emerge, with the highest number in mid-June. Adults mostly appear in large numbers around 10 o'clock on sunny days, looking for food, and are less active in the morning and on cloudy days. The adults have the habit of suspended animation and lay eggs in the surface soil. The larvae begin to hatch in late May, and at the end of September the larvae make earth nests for the winter. The following year, they continue to feed in the soil, begin to pupate in mid-June, and begin to emerge as adults in early July. These adults do not emerge from the soil that year and do not cause harm until April of the third year.
