2023-03-23 03:46:21 114

This species is the most beautiful among the beetles in my country. Body length: 27-42 mm, body width 8-13.6 mm. The back of the body is olive green, sometimes green with blue. But it is generally more or less coppery, especially on the elytra. The ventral surface is purple-black in color and covered with red and blue hairs. The tentacles are blue-green and shiny, and have many clusters of black hairs. The most noticeable ones are the 3rd to 5th segments. There is a large cluster of black hairs at the end of each segment, which looks like a bottle brush. The black hairs are on the top, inside, and The lower three edges are hairless on the outer edge; the tufts on the lower edge of the stalk are also very dense; there are hairs on the lower edge of the ends of nodes 6 and 7, which are sparse and short; the black hairs on the lower edge of nodes 8-10 are sparser and shorter and not noticeable. ;The hairs on the lower edge and the outer edge of the end of segment 11 are long and dense, resembling feathers. The antennae of the male insect extend about one-half of the body length. The antennae of the female insect are about the same length as the body. The pronotum is wider than long, with a small spinous process on each side, and a tumor-like process in front of the spine; the front and rear edges of the pronotum are covered with vermilion villi, but the middle part of the edge is often absent, sometimes The gap is large, especially in the trailing edge area. There are three horizontal black spots on each elytra: the first one is located in front of the base quarter, consisting of a clump of black hair and a horizontal bar under the shoulder, and the two are slightly separated; the second one is located in the center of the wing. The third stripe is located one-third of the way to the end of the wing, and the second and third stripes are sometimes interrupted and divided into two; these three black spots, except for the wing base tufts, are all composed of black velvet-like hairs. The vermilion villi on the ventral surface are extremely conspicuous and are densely covered in part of the anterior and middle thorax and most of the posterior thorax and abdomen; on abdominal segments 1-4, a wide red horizontal band is formed in the middle of each segment, with the front There is a narrow horizontal strip of blue villi, forming two large red spots on the caudal segment; significant red spots are also formed on each foot base and the base of the leg segment; in addition, the body is also covered with irregularly dense patches. A very fine metallic pink hair; reflecting green, blue or copper colors, these pink hairs can only be seen clearly under a high-power microscope.

Host plant: Kapok. Distributed in western Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Vietnam, Myanmar, Himalayas and northern India.
