Dabashan pika

The ears are sickle-shaped. The ears are relatively small, all less than 17mm, similar to those of the Emei pika and the flat-headed pika, and smaller than those of the Xunhua pika and the Huanglong pika of the subgenus. The skull is relatively high, the skull face is more prominent, and the ratio of skull height to total skull length and back head width is the largest in the subgenus. The back hair is rough, with the entire back hair color in a black-gray tone, the hair base is black-gray, and the middle part is yellow-brown. The hair tips are black. It is endemic to China and is currently only found in the Daba Mountain area in northern Sichuan.

The Dabashan pika belongs to the subgenus Alienauroa. The subgenus Alienauroa was established by Liu Shaoying et al. (2016). It is a very special type of pika with an obvious bat-like tragus in its ears. This genus is mainly distributed in forest areas with lower altitudes. This species is also one of the new species published by Liu Shaoying et al. (2016).
