Huanglong Pika belongs to the subgenus Alienauroa. It is mainly distributed in forests below 3100m above sea level in the Minshan Mountains. Low altitude. It prefers rocky and humid habitats. This species is also one of the new species published by Liu Shaoying et al. (2016).

It is endemic to China and is only distributed in Songpan, Pingwu, Lixian and Beichuan, Sichuan.
The front part of the incisor holes is parallel. The skull is flat, and the height is 33.5% of the total skull length. The ears are large, averaging more than 20mm (excluding the tube at the base of the ear), and the tragus is triangular, but the tip is round. The body hair is long, rough, and dull, with the longest hair on the back being 26mm. The ventral hair color is mainly grayish white. The back of the front and rear feet is grayish white, and the ventral side is blackish gray. The pads of the fingers (toes) are large, orange-yellow, and exposed outside the hair. The claws are yellowish-white and translucent.
