The eyes are white without feathers and the skin is white, and the facial and forehead feathers are black, which are characteristic of the same genus. Their feet are red.

Aburria jacutinga Distribution range and habitat

It is a crested pheasant found in the Atlantic forests of southeastern Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. There are no other pheasants in the range of the black-fronted pheasant, except the blue-throated pheasant, which is found in relatively close proximity to Peru.

Aburria jacutinga Detailed Introduction

The black-fronted crested pheasant is known as Pipile jacutinga or Aburria jacutinga, which was previously classified as one of two species of crested pheasant. However, mitochondrial DNA, osteological and biogeographical analyses have revealed that the apoplectic crested is a black screw-crested pheasant, and many of the categories of screw-crested pheasants are actually separate species. The black-fronted Crested pheasant is the basal member of its genus, but its relationship to the fleshly crested pheasant is unclear.

Due to hunting and habitat loss, the black-fronted pheasant population has become scarce.
