The white-winged crested pheasant (Penelope albipennis), also known as the white-winged officer bird, is a type of crested pheasant.
White-winged crested pheasants like to live in groups. Most of the time they live in pairs or in groups of 6-12. They walk on branches, looking for fruits and leaves to eat. A bird's nest is built on a tree or stump with branches and leaves. The female will lay two to three eggs at a time, which are rough and white in surface. The female will dish the eggs alone.
White-winged crested pheasants are found in the Lambayque, Cajamarca and Piura regions of northwestern Peru. White-winged crested pheasants are in critical condition due to severe habitat loss and predation. It is estimated that fewer than 250 individuals survive. The Laquipampa Reserved Zone was created to protect them.
