The crested pheasant is called Ortalis cinereiceps in Latin and Grey-headed Chachalaca in English.
Crested pheasants usually play an important role as seed dispersers. It feeds mainly on banana fruit, coffee berries and tree leaves. Leaves make up a larger proportion of the diet than fruit, and they occasionally peck at insects.
