Details
Lophura ignita is a medium pheasant measuring 70cm in length. The pheasant's pheasant mainly eats plants, fruits, and small animals. The female will lay four to eight eggs at a time, which are milky white.
Due to continued habitat loss and excessive hunting, the Pheasant's pheasant has been listed as near threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and protected under Appendix III of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.

Location
The Pheasant is found in Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei and Sumatra.
Form
There are several subspecies, two of which are very different in appearance. L. i. ignita, a designated subspecies, is found on the islands of Borneo and Bangka. The male has brown central tail feathers, white feet, and a russet underbody. The female has a dark black tail and white feet. L. i. rufa is found in Malaysia and Sumatra. The male has a white central tail feather, red feet, and blue-black underbody with white markings. The female has a chestnut brown tail and red feet. (now separate)
