The chestnut throat forest Partridge (scientific name: Peliperdix schlegelii) is Schlegel' s Francolin feeds on grass and grain seeds and, in Sudan, on caterpillars of the cockroach family, which live on the Isoberlinia doka, a legume tree. Monogamy, the breeding season in Sudan is September-November. The bird's nest is very shallow, covered with grass blades and so on.

It is found in Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, South Sudan and Sudan. It inhabits savannas and dry woodlands.
Form
The partridge is 21-25 cm long and weighs 223-251 grams. The little partridge's body feathers are mainly rusty orange-yellow or reddish-brown, with a dark brown crown and a chestnut brown head, cheeks, and neck that contrast vividly with amber eyes. The feathers on the forechest and back of the neck are composed of black and white stripes, pink on the belly and rump, and brown on the back and wings with black stripes. Mouth black, base yellow; Leg claws dark yellow.
