Details
The gray-winged Francolin (Scleroptila afra) has no subspecies.
The Partridge is mainly active in the early morning and late afternoon. It feeds on bulbs and roots, especially those of lycoris, sedges and irises, as well as a small number of plant leaves and seeds, insects and invertebrates.
Listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) 2016 Red List of Threatened Species ver 3.1 - Not Threatened (LC).

Location
It is found in Lesotho and South Africa. It inhabits an altitude of 1800-2750 m and lives in the scrub of mountain steppe.
Form
The body length is 30-33 cm; Males weigh 345-539 g and females 354-410 g. There is little to distinguish it from other birds of the genus, except that it is a little less maroon than the red-winged Partridge.
