This debut event combines the "national treasure" giant panda with elements of National Day and the "national sport" table tennis to showcase the scientific research and breeding achievements of the Chengdu Panda Base and celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the founding of New China.
According to the person in charge of the panda base, so far, the panda base has successfully bred 15 giant pandas this year, including 4 pairs of twins, of which the heaviest one weighed 218.5 grams at birth. Among these newborn cubs, there are many new members of celebrity families.
Among them, the giant panda "Olympia" named by International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach successfully gave birth to a female giant panda cub. This child also made Olympia a mother for the first time and added another member to the Olympic family of the Panda Base. . The famous "Family Class" member "Jili" also gave birth to her fourth child. A male "Little Huihui" stood out among the many brothers and sisters. Mei Huan, a giant panda returned from overseas who was born in the Atlanta Zoo in the United States, successfully gave birth to a male giant panda cub this year, and she also successfully became a mother after her sister Mei Lun. Now, all the newborn cubs are growing well, and the heaviest one weighs nearly 6 kilograms. They live in the sun delivery room and the moon delivery room respectively. This time, 13 giant panda cubs participated in the debut event.
During the National Day, visitors to the Panda Base can also see them lying on the bed and sleeping soundly in the visiting areas of the Sun Delivery Room and Moon Delivery Room (exhibition time: 8:00-18:00). Soon, they will also come to the outdoor playground to play and meet tourists.
