Winter Management of Tortoises

<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 13px; list-style: none; line-height: 30px; overflow: hidden; overflow-wrap: break-word; text-indent: 2em; color: rgb(34, 34, 34); Tortoises are temperature-changing animals, and their lives are greatly affected by the ambient temperature. From November to March of the following year, when the temperature is below 10°C, the tortoises lie quietly in the mud at the bottom of the pool or in the loose soil covered with straw, without eating or moving, and hibernate. At this time, their metabolism is very slow and weak. It is not until early April, when the temperature rises above 15°C, that the tortoises begin to resume activities and eat a lot. Therefore, there is no need to feed or change water during the hibernation period. The main work during this period is to keep warm, such as covering the open space around the pool and between the pool and the wall with straw; the second is to prevent the invasion of the natural enemies of the tortoises.

About 10 days before hibernation, do not feed the tortoise to allow it to excrete feces in its body. When it completely enters hibernation, just cover it with a wet towel and put it in a place without noise.
