Ostrich is not a national protected animal. Ostrich (Struthio struthio) generally refers to the African ostrich, belonging to the Struthio family of the order Struthiformes. It is the largest bird in the world. Adult birds can reach 2.5 meters in height, and male ostriches can weigh up to 150 kilograms. A very small head is supported on a snake-like slender neck, with a pair of short, flat, triangular beaks composed of several keratin sheaths.


The main feature is that the keel is not well developed and cannot fly. It is also the only two-toed bird in the world. Each big toe of its feet has a dangerous nail about 7 cm long. The hind limbs are strong and powerful, suitable for running. It lives in the desert grasslands and savannah areas of Africa. Because its feathers, skins and meat have high economic value, it has the advantages of fast growth, strong fertility, easy breeding and strong disease resistance, and is widely domesticated in many countries.
