Dinosaurs evolved from reptiles. As early as the late Triassic period, about 240 million years ago, a group of reptiles called prosauropods appeared. Prosauropods walked on four legs like sauropods, but their front limbs were longer than their hind limbs, their bodies were smaller, and their diet was mainly plant-based.
Over time, prosauropods gradually developed characteristics that were more adapted to the environment. Some of these animals began to walk on two legs, and then developed a more efficient running style and powerful chewing ability. These are the real dinosaurs. Dinosaurs reached their peak in the Cretaceous period and became one of the most successful animals in the world, but at the end of the period, about 65 million years ago, they suddenly became extinct, leaving behind a rich fossil record and many mysteries.
