Sika deer (scientific name: Elaphurus davidianus), also known as white deer or red deer, is a unique mammal in China and one of the rarest deer species in the world. Due to various reasons such as habitat loss, hunting and human activities, the sika deer was almost extinct in the early 1970s. Fortunately, under the protection of the Chinese government and scientists, its population has gradually recovered, and it has been listed as a national first-level protected animal.
At present, sika deer are mainly distributed in nature reserves and artificial breeding bases in North China. At present, the number of sika deer in the wild is still relatively rare, but through artificial breeding and conservation measures, its number is gradually increasing.
It should be noted that because the number of sika deer is still relatively rare, it still faces various threats, such as further loss of habitat, illegal hunting and traffic accidents. Therefore, people still need to take active measures to protect this precious species.
