Leeches are a traditional Chinese medicinal material, and their breeding technology has gradually matured. Here are some methods and techniques for leech farming:

1. Water quality management: Leeches have relatively high requirements for water quality. They should use clean and smooth water sources with a pH between 5-8. The water should be changed regularly and an appropriate amount of aquatic plants should be added to maintain water quality and provide a living environment for leeches.

2. Farm site selection: Leech farms should be far away from cities and polluted areas, and should be located in places with clear flowing rivers or lakes. When building a site, you also need to consider the leech's habitat, such as water depth, water flow and other factors.

3. Construction of breeding ponds: Cultural ponds are usually used for breeding, and the size of the pond depends on the breeding volume. Be careful not to make the bottom of the pool too flat so that the leeches can stick to the bottom of the pool. The walls of the pool should be smooth so that leeches can crawl on them.

4. Purchase seedlings: Choose healthy larvae and adult leeches as seedlings. The larvae should be active, dark in color and strong. Adult leeches should be of moderate length, have a shiny complexion, and have no scars or lesions.

5. Feed management: Leeches are carnivorous animals that feed on blood. They can also be fed with liver, spleen and other animal offal. Generally, feeding is done 1-2 times a day, and the feed amount is controlled at about 3%-4% of the leech's body weight.

6. Disease prevention and control: During the leech breeding process, pay attention to preventing the occurrence of diseases, such as residual disease, white spot disease, etc., and take effective prevention and control measures in a timely manner.

7. Harvest management: The growth period of leeches is about 6 months to 1 year, and the harvest time should be determined according to the growth status of leeches. Generally, leeches can be fished when their weight reaches more than 5 grams. It is recommended to use hook or net fishing methods.

I hope the above information will help you understand leech farming!
