Elderly people may have this concept because they have encountered or heard some superstitions and rumors related to cats in their long-term life experience. But in fact, cats don’t have any ill effects from picking them up.
Instead, picking up cats creates a closer relationship with them, strengthens the bond between owner and cat, and can make cats feel loved and valued. Of course, you should pay attention to safety when picking up cats and try to avoid scaring or hurting them.
In short, picking up a cat will not have any adverse effects on the cat itself, but can promote communication and emotional connection between the owner and the cat.
