Hippopotamus are large herbivorous mammals that live in rivers, lakes and swamps in Africa. They have a thick body and short, sturdy limbs, and are usually gray or brown. The hippo's mouth is large and can open to more than 150 degrees, revealing sharp teeth that can reach 50 cm long, enough to kill a cheetah with one blow.

Hippopotamus are semi-aquatic animals that are usually active at night and rest in water or mud during the day. They mainly feed on grass and plants, and need to consume food equivalent to 1/3 of their body weight every day to maintain their physical strength. Due to the destruction and pollution of their habitats in Africa, hippos are currently facing varying degrees of threats in the wild.

Hippopotamus are also one of the most dangerous animals, especially when mother hippos are protecting their cubs, they can be very aggressive. Although they look clumsy, they are actually very fast, reaching 30 kilometers per hour, and their strength is also amazing. Therefore, tourists and local residents in Africa need to be extra careful around waters where hippos are present.
