Why does a cat's eyes bleed with pus and cannot be opened?

If your cat's eyes are draining and unable to open fully, this may be a symptom of an eye infection or other eye problem. Here are some common reasons why this may occur:

1. Conjunctivitis: Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the conjunctiva (the transparent membrane on the surface of the eyeball) of the eye. Common symptoms include red, swollen, pus-filled eyes and difficulty opening them.

2. Corneal ulcer: A corneal ulcer is an injury or ulcer on the surface of the cornea. It can cause eye redness, discharge, and blurred vision.

3. Conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers may be caused by bacterial or viral infection, or may be an inflammatory reaction caused by other irritants such as dust, foreign bodies, etc.

4. Eyelid problems: Eyelid problems such as blepharitis, eyelid inflammation, etc. may also lead to pus discharge and difficulty in fully opening the eyes.

Please note that these are just a few possible causes and a specific diagnosis requires a comprehensive eye examination by your veterinarian. If your cat's eyes are bleeding and unable to fully open, take him to your veterinarian as soon as possible for diagnosis and treatment. Based on specific symptoms and examination results, your veterinarian can determine the cause of the problem and provide appropriate treatment options, such as eye drops, antibiotics, or other medications. Early diagnosis and treatment are important to protecting your cat’s eye health.
