Cat ear mites are usually not directly transmitted to humans. Ear mites are parasites that live in or around your cat’s ears. They are spread through direct contact, sharing bedding, toys, etc.

Although cat ear mites do not frequently infect humans, occasionally zoonosis may occur. In these cases, the infected person is usually someone who has been in close contact with the infected cat, such as a family member, caregiver, or veterinary staff.

Possible contagion should be considered if the following symptoms occur:

1. Intense ear itching: Due to the presence of ear mites, infected people may experience intense ear itching and tingling.

2. Skin inflammation: Ear mite infection may cause redness, swelling, and inflammation of the ear skin of infected individuals.

3. Rash or rash: In some cases, an ear mite infection may cause a rash or rash on other parts of the infected person's body.

If you suspect you have an ear mite infection in your cat, it is recommended to consult a doctor immediately for evaluation and treatment. Doctors can make a diagnosis based on symptoms and provide appropriate treatment options. At the same time, to prevent infection, it is recommended to maintain personal hygiene, keep an appropriate distance from cats with ear mites, and avoid sharing bedding and personal items. Regular ear examinations and cleanings of your pet, as well as regular veterinary checkups, are also important measures to prevent ear mite infections.
