The cold climate in the Northeast is suitable for raising some cold-resistant turtles. The following are some turtle species suitable for raising in the Northeast:
1. Chinese closed-shell turtle (commonly known as "chipo turtle"): This is a common and adaptable tortoise that can adapt to lower temperatures. They are suitable for keeping outdoors in garden ponds.
2. Japanese Stone Turtle: The Japanese Stone Turtle is a small tortoise that also has good cold tolerance. They are better suited to an indoor environment, such as a greenhouse or indoor fish tank.
3. Yellow-legged tortoise: The yellow-legged tortoise is a medium-sized tortoise that is relatively tolerant to low temperatures. They are suitable to be kept outdoors, but they need to be provided with a suitable shelter from the cold, such as a greenhouse or sunshade.
No matter which turtle you choose, make sure you provide them with a suitable habitat, proper temperature control, and sunlight. At the same time, it is also very important to give them a proper diet and supplement with vitamins and minerals. Please note that each species of turtle has different feeding needs and habits. It is recommended to learn more about and prepare the corresponding feeding conditions before breeding.
