When puppies are born, they require special care and feeding. Here are the general steps for feeding a newborn puppy:

1. Feed breast milk directly: If the mother dog is available and willing to feed the puppies, it is best to let the puppies suck breast milk directly. Breast milk is the best food for puppies. It is rich in nutrients and immune factors, which helps the growth and immune system development of puppies.

2. Milk substitutes: If the mother dog is unable to provide enough milk or is unable to feed her puppies, commercial milk substitutes are available. Dog formula specifically designed for puppies is an option. According to the product instructions, mix the milk powder with warm water in the specified ratio and feed the puppy using a special bottle or nipple.

3. Feeding frequency and amount: The digestive system of newborn puppies is not fully developed, so they need frequent and small feedings. Normally, newborn puppies need to be fed about 6 to 8 times a day, and the amount of each feeding should be adjusted according to the size and breed of the puppy. Consult your veterinarian or follow product instructions to determine the exact amount to feed.

4. Feeding temperature: Make sure the temperature of the milk or milk powder is moderate and not too hot or too cold. The temperature should be close to the mother dog's body temperature, which is about 37°C to 39°C. You can test the temperature inside your wrist to ensure you don’t burn your puppy’s mouth.

5. Digestive stimulation: During feeding, use a soft, moist cloth to gently pat the puppy's anal area to simulate the mother dog licking the puppies to stimulate defecation and urination. This helps the puppy eliminate and imitate the mother's behavior.

6. Veterinary Consultation: If you have any questions or concerns about feeding your newborn puppy, it’s best to consult your veterinarian. They can provide you with specific advice and guidance to ensure your puppy receives proper nutrition and care.

Remember, your puppy's health and growth require careful attention. It is very important to consult your veterinarian promptly and pay close attention to your puppy's health.
