When guppies are about to give birth, they usually have some of the following symptoms or manifestations:

1. It was found that the female fish became fatter and had a fuller abdomen, and her body was slower and less active during swimming. Under the body surface of female fish, you can often see some protruding bag-like areas, commonly known as the pregnancy belly area.

2. During the pregnancy period of guppy fish, the male fish will be more active, often swimming around the gestational belly area, while remaining more alert.

3. A few days before guppies are about to give birth, the female fish usually looks for a suitable place to spawn, usually in the following situations: ① looking for a hiding place or avoiding bold fish; ② swimming around; ③ non-stop Wandering or waving fins, etc.; ④ Expressing great interest in aquatic plants, rocks, or caves with nests, wire or plastic mesh entanglements, etc.

4. Female fish usually reduce their eating and activity levels just before spawning.

5. Before spawning, the guppy’s eyeballs will be more colorful and eye-catching, and the overall look will be more attractive. This is a natural manifestation of the breeding season.

In short, when guppies display the above symptoms and behaviors, it most likely means that they are about to give birth to baby guppies. If in doubt, you can gently touch the underside of the female's belly to feel if there is a sinking feeling. It is usually very smooth and comfortable. If it feels cold to the touch or exhibits abnormal mucus, it may represent a disease or postpartum complications, and you need to seek professional help in time to take necessary measures.
