The cock-billed carp is endemic to my country and is only distributed in Qilu Lake, Yunnan.
The cock-mouthed carp was originally a common commercial fish in its origin. In the late 1970s, due to unscientific development of the lake, the natural ecological environment of the lake area deteriorated, the lake surface shrank, the water level dropped, serious pollution occurred, the ecological balance was imbalanced, a large number of aquatic plants died, and the habitat and spawning environment of the cock-mouthed carp were destroyed. This caused a sharp decline in resources and is now almost extinct.
