Long-body mandarin fish (Coreosiniperca roulei) is called long-body mandarin fish. It belongs to the order Perciformes, the family Sniperidae, and the genus Long-bodied Mandarin fish. The body is slender and approximately cylindrical, with its length being five times its height. The head is long and slightly flat. Tip of the kiss. There is a flat spine at the back end of the gill cover and a smaller short spine at the upper end. The gill membranes are separated on the left and right sides and are not connected to the isthmus. Gill rakers reduced to granular form. Anus near anal fin. The body is covered with weak comb scales. The head and front and ventral surfaces are scaleless. The front end of the lateral line is higher and reaches the caudal peduncle in the middle position. There are 5-10 pyloric caeca. Dorsal fin rays XIII-XIV-10-11; anal fin rays III-7; pelvic fin near the chest; even fins and caudal fin round. The body is dark brown with irregular black spots, the ventral side is gray and white, and each fin is yellow.


It is a warm temperate mountain stream fish and prefers a clear water environment with rocky bottom. It is a carnivorous small to medium-sized fish that swims well and feeds on small fish, shrimps, aquatic insects, etc. The maximum body length is about 200 mm. Long-body mandarin fish is a specialty fish in eastern my country. Widely distributed in the waters south of the Yangtze River in Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guizhou and Guangxi.


Although the long-body mandarin fish is widely distributed, its number is not large. In recent decades, the population has increased dramatically, excessive predation, and the depletion and pollution of the water environment have led to a sharp reduction in its resources, which are now very scarce.
