Betta fish is commonly known as flower towel, dragon fish, Chinese betta fish, Buddha fish, and paradise fish.

Betta fish are loved by people for their bright colors and aggressiveness. There are many varieties of betta fish, some of which are gray-green with 8-10 blue-black horizontal stripes; or light brown body color with red and blue alternating horizontal stripes; or white body with red eyes, etc. . Betta fish also have long and pointed dorsal fins, anal fins and tail fins. The fins of each fin are striped, and the gray-black fins are edged with red edges. When in heat, each fin is stretched out, making it even more dazzling.

Betta fish is a small fish with a body length of 50-100 mm. It usually inhabits slow-flowing or still water environments such as creeks, ponds, farmland, and river ditches. Omnivorous, it mainly feeds on zooplankton, insect larvae, and also filamentous algae. The most suitable living water temperature is 23-24℃. The water quality is required to be neutral to alkaline. Betta fish have auxiliary respiratory organs that can directly use air for internal exchange, and can survive when the dissolved oxygen in the aquarium is low. Once out of water, they can live for a period of time without dying.

Betta fish have a rough temperament. When male fish meet, they tend to fight. Especially during the breeding season, the fighting becomes more intense. When betta fish breed, they bite off aquatic plants or algae to float on the water surface, spit foam from their mouths, and glue them together to form a bubble nest, in which they lay eggs. The breeding water temperature is about 26°C.
