Most skulls have large cranial cavities, are bulbous, and have short noses. Their sense of smell is secondary to vision, touch, and hearing. Some lower species have highly developed olfactory centers in the brain and rely largely on smell to act. Some lemurs have longer snouts.
The body coat may be soft and fine, some may be rough or hard, or may be very long in some places, or may have heterochromatic links on the hair. Some have very long hair on their heads, forming a tufted crown, or very short, flat tops, or bald and hairless. Some have long hair on their cheeks or under their jaws, shaped like beards. Some have long hair on their shoulders, backs, and buttocks. Some body hair is very showy.
