The dorsal edge of the head of Xu's flat scorpionfish is low, and its rear end has sharp spines. The distance between the eyes is wide and even, approximately equal to the diameter of the eyes. There are no scales on the two jaws, preorbital bones and gill covers. The lower edge of the preorbital bone has 3 blunt spines. The dorsal fin has 13 to 14 spines. Gill rakers elongated. Both jaws, vomer and hip bones have finely toothed bands.
Warm water bottom fish. Often inhabits offshore rocky areas. The body length can reach more than 300 mm. Ovoviviparous, reproductive period is from late spring to early summer. It is a common species along the northern coast of my country.
Distributed in the western North Pacific. It is produced in China in the East China Sea, Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea.
