The head is small, the antennae are filamentous, and the mouthparts are chewing. The prothorax is short; the middle and metathorax are long, and the first abdominal segment merges with the metathorax. Wings developed or missing. The body length is usually between 10-130 mm, but the longest species can reach 330 mm, making it the longest body among insects. Other species are broad and leaf-like in shape and are called leaf insects. They all like to live on plants, staying still during the day and moving at night to feed. They are famous mimicking insects.

There are about 2,500 known species in the world, all of which are herbivorous species. Most species are found in tropical humid areas, mainly in eastern Australia, but are also found in dry and temperate areas. More than 200 species have been recorded in my country.

The characteristics of this order can be summarized as follows: they are like branches and leaves, which are called slender eyes, and their bodies are thin and long like slender bamboos; they are even wider and flat like leaves, hiding in the forest and harming plants.
