The Latin name of the retrodorsalis percocet is Percocypris pingi retrodorsalis, which is a fish species endemic to the Lancang River and Nu River in China.

The diet of the back perch carp is carnivorous, feeding on small fish and shrimps. The common individuals are 3 to 5 kilograms, and the largest individuals can reach 20 kilograms.

Due to the destruction of the water ecological environment and the adverse effects of human activities, the resources of the back perch carp have been decreasing and have become an endangered rare fish.

Location

Distributed in the Lancang River and Nujiang River systems

Form

3 specimens were measured, with a body length of 149-212mm, collected from Liuku, Xiaguan, and Jianhu, Yunnan.
Dorsal fin iv-8; anal fin iii-5; pectoral fin i-16-17; pelvic fin ii-8-9. Lateral line scales, 32-35 scales before dorsal fin, 16-19 scales around caudal peduncle. 10 gill rakers outside the first gill arch. 3 rows of hypopharyngeal teeth, 2·3·5-5·3·2. Body length is 3.9-4.3 times the body height, 3.4-3.6 times the head length, 5.9-6.2 times the caudal peduncle length, and 9.2-9.9 times the caudal peduncle height. Head length is 3.2-3.4 times the snout length, 5.9-6.5 times the eye diameter, and 3.2-3.7 times the distance between eyes. Caudal peduncle length is 1.5-1.7 times the caudal peduncle height. The body is elongated and laterally flattened. The back of the head is slightly raised, and the dorsal margin is slightly arc-shaped. The head is long, the snout is slightly wide and flat, and the snout length is less than the head length behind the eyes. The snout skin ends
