The Golden-breasted Robin hides in dense bushes and bamboo forests. It feeds on insects on the forest floor. Its tail often twitches.

The long call of the golden-breasted robin is loud, beautiful and varied. Each note is repeated several times, and it imitates the calls of other species and mixes rough calls at the same time. It makes a guttural tok sound when warning.

In June 2022, photography enthusiasts recorded a bird with a long, loud, beautiful and varied call in the bushes and bamboo forests of Geza Township, Shangri-La City, Diqing. After consulting relevant ornithology experts, the species is the golden-breasted robin (scientific name: Calliope pectardens), a national second-level protected animal.
