The female bird is roughly similar to the male bird, but there are differences. The male bird is bright green all over, with a narrow black eye mask on the head, black scaly spots on the top of the head, black wings with white end spots and orange-red patches, red chest, black tail feathers at the end, bright red on the outside, and brown-yellow undertail coverts. The female bird is similar to the male bird but the feathers are darker and the chest is not stained red. The iris is reddish brown, gray-black, and the feet are yellow-brown.

Myzornis pyrrhoura Distribution range and habitat

In China, it is found in southern and southeastern Tibet and western and northwestern Yunnan. Abroad, it is distributed in the middle and eastern section of the Himalayas and northern Myanmar.
It lives alone or in pairs in forests, bamboo forests and alpine rhododendron bushes in medium and high altitude mountains. It loves nectar and is often found in mixed groups with small nectar-eating birds such as sunbirds and white-eyes. It moves in the middle and lower layers of vegetation, but rarely goes to the ground.

The Fire-Tailed Green Thrush mainly inhabits mountain forests, bamboo forests, cuckoo bushes, shrubs, and plateau meadows and bushes at an altitude of 1,600-4,000 meters. The Fire-Tailed Green Thrush is a resident bird. It often moves alone or in pairs, sometimes in small groups of 3-5, and sometimes in large groups of more than 20 in autumn and winter, but generally does not like to gather in groups. Because this bird likes to eat nectar, it often forages with sunbirds. It frequently shuttles between flowers or flies between branches of bushes. It occasionally flies to catch insects, and rarely goes down to the ground to move and forage.

Fire-tailed Green Babbler is active in sunny places such as dense bushes, bamboo forests and bushes. It moves alone or in small groups. It mixes with warblers or sunbirds. It sucks nectar from cuckoo bushes. It is usually silent. It makes a high call of tsi-tsit when communicating. There is a high scream before trrrr-trrr-trrr. It repeats the tzip sound when warning.
