Daption capense

The headland petrels are 40 cm long with a wingspan of 81-91 cm. They are easy to identify with a black head, black and white feathers on their backs and white feathers on their abdomen.

They are found along the coasts of the Antarctic continent and on subAntarctic islands, but may be encountered throughout the southern ocean.

Its scientific name is Daption capense, but its specific habits are unknown.

Groups can often be seen flying in the air and like to follow the boats.
