The Calgary Albatross (Phoebastria irrorata, Waved Albatross) is a unique species.
The albatross is the longest living bird in the world, with an average lifespan of 60 years and a maximum lifespan of 80 years. Often we use the mandarin duck as a metaphor for the love of a couple, but in fact the most loving model is the island of albatross. The albatross has a free love period of one to three years before they form a couple. The male birds sing loudly to attract the attention of the opposite sex, while the female birds hear the call of the male birds and land from the sky, the two begin to look at each other, and if they are satisfied, they begin to associate. The sign of willingness to start a relationship is that the two parties dance together, during which they will constantly touch each other with their beaks, just like we humans kiss, then love, and wait until two years later if they are satisfied with marriage and children. And you can only have one partner in your life, and you must be faithful to love.
It is worth mentioning that the albatross couple of the island are usually gliding on the sea, but when it comes to the breeding season, they will arrive at the same place and wait for each other.
In recent years, the albatross's living environment has been greatly threatened, resulting in a sharp decline in population, and it is one of the four critically endangered albatross species in the world.
