What kind of animal is a dragon snake?

The dragon snake is a Javan serpent. This snake is mainly nocturnal and feeds on frogs. It is easily distinguished from other snakes by its dark color and slender body. Scientists believe that the dragon snake is the most primitive snake species with unique scales, including protrusions on the back. The dragon snake is native to Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia.


Snakes (scientific name: Serpentiformes) are a type of animal under the phylum Chordata and class Reptiles. The body is slender and divided into three parts: head, trunk and tail. There are no limbs or claw-like remains of hind limbs on both sides of the transverse cloaca of lower snakes; the whole body is covered with scales; the head shape varies, and the nostrils are located on the side of the snout, but the species of Hydrophidae that live in the sea for life are located on the back of the snout; there is a protective transparent skin outside the eyeball, the pupil is round, vertically oval or horizontally oval, there is no movable eyelid, and the lens is almost spherical; the tongue is slender and forked; the premaxilla (only pythons have teeth), maxilla, palatine bone, pterygoid bone and dentary bone are attached with teeth with recurved tips, but the size, number and structure of the teeth vary with different snake species; the tail is obviously shorter than the head and body length.
